You need a consultant who...
Designs a custom strategy
based on reading 10k+ applications from top students in California, the Bay Area, and across the US
Builds a high-ROI path
using your student's organic interests that gets results without overcommitting
Works in a calm, programmatic way
guided by your student's grade to maximize the time left before senior year
Has a small, capped caseload
and is your mentor through the whole process: essays, extracurriculars, big-picture strategy
Takes the process off your plate
but brings parents in at critical moments for feedback and guidance. You know your kid best!
But right now, you're...
Afraid to trust the generic advice
of someone who hasn't worked in a real selective admissions office
Trying to help your student stand out but...
are really just overwhelming them (and probably copying what all your friends' kids did)
Thinking it's too late to start
and don't know where to begin based on your grade
Afraid to hire a "consulting mill"
that uses sales pressure tactics, where your consultant is managing 100 other students at once
Tired of family arguments about college admissions
at the dinner table and feeling like dealing with it yourself is turning your relationship into a constant battle
Welcome to Your Admissions Journey
The Admissions Journey is our flagship program for 9th-11th grade students, combining intensive year-round support to prepare you for a successful senior year application.
First Year: Ground Zero
For better or worse, colleges do pay attention to your First Year. Luckily, so do we.
We're here to start your family off on the right path by creating clear expectations and a healthy mentality toward college.
In First Year, we introduce the college application process to younger students in a way that eases them in - minimizing anxiety and confusion while answering their questions.
In a series of sessions, we will focus on essential admissions topics like:
- Understanding your course trajectory at your school and anticipating any scheduling challenges.
- Balancing the importance of course rigor with mental health.
- Understanding the role of rigorous coursework (of AP, IB, DE, Honors) in the admissions process.
- Identifying extracurricular commitments and pathways to deepen and expand through high school.
- Completing basic college research, and gaining familiarity with the college landscape.
- Sharing our 3-pronged approach to ECs: school-based engagement, helping someone else, and passion projects.
- Discussing “spikiness vs roundedness” and laying the seeds of a plan for your application narrative.
Sophomore Year: Pruning the Tree
In Sophomore year, decisions multiply as the branches of an application narrative begin to grow. Our work focuses on helping you lock in the academic and extracurricular direction that will set you up for the all-important Junior year.
Sophomore Year services focus on:
- “Pruning” the extracurricular tree and ensuring the student is focusing their efforts on the most meaningful and strategically impactful extracurriculars.
- Taking next-steps with college research, including planning school/virtual tours, and learning about majors and academic programs.
- Helping to make important course-planning decisions for Junior year informed by an appreciation for rigor and a continued commitment to preserving mental health and “staying power.”
- Making a test-taking plan and connecting with any prep services needed.
- Auditing course rigor and assessing whether the student is on track for admissions goals and college list.
- Evaluating summer programs and "pay to play" opportunities.
Sophomore year is where the really important decisions are made, ones that dictate how you'll spend the next two years of high school. Our goal is to help you make the best decisions in view of a broader application strategy.
Junior Year: Locking in the Story
Finish Junior year with momentum and a plan.
Your third year of high school is the most important to admissions officers. Admissions committees look most closely on Junior year commitments and grades.
In Junior year, sessions focus on the following areas:
- Making last-minute changes to extracurriculars to coalesce the narratives that will be central to your applications.
- Completing any unfinished school research and beginning to demonstrate interest in relevant schools.
- Solidifying a college list and strategic application narrative that incorporates areas of extracurricular and personal experience throughout high school.
- Solidifying major/academic study decisions and evaluating the strategic impact of major decisions on admissions plans.
- Setting up a summer plan that dovetails with the beginning of application season in Senior year.
- By the end of Junior year, students should be prepared for the rigorous college application process in Senior year.
Senior Year: Go Time
Senior year is when it all comes together, the foundation you've laid across four years of high school, in the college application process. How do you communicate your unique story? Strike a strategic narrative? Develop the perfect college list? It's not easy.
We help you feel confident about your application, focusing on written and narrative strategy. You've got one shot at crafting the best application possible; we're here to help.
Our most intensive work happens every year with our senior class as we guide them through the exhaustive (and exhausting!) process of creating and submitting the strongest college applications possible.
Our Senior packages start in rising-Senior summer. We offer two core packages based on whether you are applying to the UCs or not.

With Sierra Admissions' guidance, I was accepted to every school I applied to.
This was our daughter’s ‘reach’ school—and with Ben’s help, her dream came true.

Driv B.
Studying Medicine and Computer Science (BSMD)
Admitted to: Stanford (Attending), Brown (BS/MD)
Unweighted/Weighted GPA: 4.0/4.0
Strategy coach: Alex

Driv's resume spoke for itself. The problem? He was unsure how to craft a personal statement and set of essays that emphasized his outsized resume achievements while remaining personal and human.
It was also challenging for him to decide what to write about. He had equally impressive accomplishments in debate, music, research, and community involvement. He felt sure that each item on his resume had a place in his application. And with over 20 applications to submit, there would be ample space to write about each of them.
Our job was to help him triage his topics into a manageable, strategic narrative framework. Our goal was to help him showcase his natural brilliance and high achievement in a way that portrayed his thoughtfulness and genuine spirit of care.
We also had to help him craft answers to the extremely lengthy BS/MD applications - programs with the most competitive acceptance rates in the country. Ultimately, he was able to strike a powerful balance in his application that emphasized his commitment to research, his artistic sensibility, and his grounded interest in committing to the life of a physician. His results speak for themselves, and he is now attending Stanford as an undergraduate.
Marina S.
Studying Pyschology
Admitted to: Wesleyan (Attending), Cornell
Unweighted/Weighted GPA: 3.82/4.0
Strategy coach: Ben

Marina had a strong (but less-than-perfect) academic record and extracurriculars that straddled psychology and social justice. However, none of her extracurriculars were at a national or international level. One organization, however, seemed promising: a volunteer arrangement with a social justice organization that we encouraged her to turn into an internship.
As her work with the organization deepened over Fall, we worked with Marina to craft several essays focused on her extracurricular work and newfound interest in prison abolition. Several colleges that admitted Marina sent her personal letters acknowledging that her interest in this important field was a strong motivating factor for her acceptance.
Marina's powerful personal statement about a challenging family experience and her purposeful supplemental essays about her internship led to a powerful, well-rounded application that garnered wins at more than a dozen amazing schools.
Aarush M.
Studying Math & Engineering
Admitted to: Attending UCSD
Unweighted/Weighted GPA: 3.92/4.0
Strategy coach: Alex

Aarush was a thoughtful, skilled writer who came to us believing that he needed to write about his extracurricular achievements repeatedly to make up for what he saw as a deficit in his resume. He suffered from a crisis of confidence, fearing his CS-oriented resume would disqualify him from engineering / math admissions pools.
Our first goal was to understand the story behind the resume. After numerous sessions with Aarush, he told us about his years-long project of keeping a detailed daily journal about his life and his intense childhood experiences with health issues.
Along with his experiences building robotics applications as a kid, these personal stories allowed Aarush to weave together a story that balanced his academic and extracurricular passions with the unique personal values and experiences that made him shine as a candidate.
